Dr. Epstein joined RAH in 1989 from the University of Minnesota where as a fellow and instructor in cardiovascular radiology, he conducted research in vascular and nonvascular interventional radiology, and developed a specialized needle used in the assessment of urinary tract obstructions.  Dr. Epstein’s areas of expertise include the fields of invasive and noninvasive vascular assessment and endovascular intervention, including the use of caval filters, vascular stents, thrombolytics, angioplasty, atherectomy and venous access.  He initiated the transhepatic portocaval shunt program at Memorial Regional Hospital, and is the founder and medical director of the South Florida Laser Vein Center.  Dr. Epstein has served in many professional societies at the local, state and national levels including 5 years as president of the South Florida Chapter of the Society of Interventional Radiology, and as president of the Florida Radiological Society.  Dr. Epstein was recently elected Fellow of the American College of Radiology.
